Prada Re‑Nylon’s SEA BEYOND initiative continues its commitment to ocean education with a new collaboration with National Geographic CreativeWorks, starring actor Letitia Wright. Stewards of the Ocean: Hawaiʻi follows the series’ inaugural chapter featuring Benedict Cumberbatch and marks the second documentary of the 2026 series.
Set along the coast of Hawaiʻi and home to an extraordinary diversity of marine life, the film explores a unique ocean ecosystem in which nearly a quarter of marine species are found nowhere else on Earth. Guided by the principle of Mālama ʻĀina, a Hawaiian term for caring for nature, Wright journeys through waters where land, sea, and humanity exist in a delicate equilibrium.
In the documentary, Wright investigates Hawaiʻi’s rich ecology alongside Titouan Bernicot, SEA BEYONDer and founder of Coral Gardeners, the non‑profit dedicated to restoring coral reefs, diving beneath the waves to explore the islands’ distinctive seascape. Wright also speaks with Dr. Kapono Ciotti, director of the Pacific American Foundation, a partner of the Hawaiʻi Blue Schools Hui, a part of the USA Blue Schools and the Blue School Global Network coordinated by UNESCO, bringing together schools to integrate ocean education into curriculums worldwide. Through a two‑year educational journey made possible by SEA BEYOND, the Hawaiʻi Blue Schools Hui builds students’ ocean literacy through place‑based action projects that celebrate Hawaiʻi’s unique biodiversity and cultural legacy. These young sea custodians dive beneath the surface, developing a deeper understanding of the challenges affecting global water bodies.
