For its fifth edition, Prada Frames returns to Milan, running in parallel with the annual design tradeshow Salone del Mobile. Conceived as a symposium curated by the design studio Formafantasma, the initiative seeks to create an environment in which interdisciplinary dialogue enables critical thinking at the crossroads of design, culture, and society. This year, Prada Frames presents In Sight, an installation investigating image-making as a defining, immaterial aspect of cultural and political discourse.
First initiated in 2022, the interdisciplinary Prada Frames symposium approaches different themes through a scientific and educational format. In its first edition, On Forest focused on forest environments, investigating the logic that governs the modern-day timber industry. For its second edition, Materials in Flux, Prada Frames held the symposium first in Hong Kong, followed by Milan, where it explored the ethical and aesthetic implications of materials. The following year, Being Home took the living environment as a framework to address pressing contemporary challenges, while last year the symposium presented In Transit as a prismatic gaze on infrastructure and the forces shaping the movement of people, goods, data, and power.
Poignantly placed within Santa Maria delle Grazie at the center of Milan, In Sight will host lectures in the Sacrestia—a site associated with Bramante’s 16th‑century Renaissance architecture and featuring biblical scenes by Domenico and Francesco Morone. As such, small groups will be offered guided visits through the historical setting and overarching themes of the symposium. Across three days—April 19, 20, and 21—the program includes a special evening presenting a curated selection of key ideas and discussions alongside a musical performance, opening In Sight to a wider public.
