Prada Mode arrives in New York in June 2026 for its fourteenth edition, occupying the Hotel Chelsea with Satellites II—the latest collaboration between Nicolas Winding Refn and Hideo Kojima. Coinciding with the Tribeca Festival, the project builds on their earlier exhibition, Satellites, first presented at Prada Aoyama Tokyo in the summer of 2025. Satellites II extends the ongoing exchange between two figures whose practices sit at the intersection of cinema, gaming, and speculative narrative.
Set within the confines of the Hotel Chelsea, Satellites II positions the building itself as a cultural transmitter, embedded with the collective memory of old New York and perpetually in motion. Over the first two days, select hotel rooms host a private exhibition, functioning as micro television studios with live performances and activations. During the following three days, the same rooms reopen to the public, transformed into intentional art installations. Additional spaces throughout the hotel are activated with site-specific works shaped by the artists’ ongoing dialogue and shared obsessions. Alongside the installation, Prada Mode New York presents a live cultural program of talks, concerts, performances, and reinterpretations of broadcast formats.
For its initial private days, the hotel will operate as a members’ club with a select group of guests invited to stay on site amid dinners and celebrations. The final three days, June 5 through 7, open the project to the public and expand its footprint across the city through additional installations, screenings, artist conversations, and special programming.
Prada Mode is Prada’s cultural program and conceived as a global platform for sustained collaboration with artists, filmmakers, and thinkers. An evolution of Carsten Höller’s Prada Double Club, each iteration takes shape through site-specific installations developed with longtime collaborators before opening to the public. Since its launch in 2018, the series has traveled from Miami to Tokyo, engaging figures including Damien Hirst, Martine Syms, Theaster Gates, and Elmgreen & Dragset.
Within this context, Satellites II brings together filmmaker Nicolas Winding Refn and game creator Hideo Kojima, two artists whose practices, while rooted in different media, share a preoccupation with narrative atmosphere, emotional precision, and cross-disciplinary exchange. Refn’s work spans cult cinema and prestige television, from the Pusher trilogy to Drive and Copenhagen Cowboy, while Kojima has redefined cinematic language in games through projects such as Metal Gear and Death Stranding, expanding his practice fluidly into film, art, and experimental collaboration. Their continued dialogue finds a natural setting in the Hotel Chelsea, one of New York’s most storied addresses and a landmark of artistic life and cultural memory. Since opening in 1884, the Chelsea has served as a sanctuary for writers, musicians, and artists, becoming inseparable from the mythology of creative New York.
