Intellectual Deconstruction Meets Raw Glamour For Prada Women's FW25 Collection

_By_Louise Daniel

Miuccia PradaandRaf Simons**, fashion's commanding duo, continue their retrospective journey of questioning, deconstructing, and recontextualizing. Each collection is an intentional response to the ever-changing perception of clothing—more than an accessory, more than a garment, but rather a philosophical exploration of the relationship between clothes and their wearer. This intellectual approach returns to our collective human experience, reflecting shifting ideologies and the evolving role of femininity in contemporary society.**

For_FW25_,Prada_presents_Raw Glamour*, a study of contrasts that dissects and reassembles ideas of femininity, beauty, and refinement. How does femininity manifest today? What are its boundaries? The collection is not about answers but about posing questions—forcing a reconsideration of what is expected versus what can be._Prada_remains ageless, boundless in its pursuit of intellectual fashion—fashion that disrupts, yet feels deeply understood.*

The Prada Way: FW25 Process of Deconstruction

The show was staged within the_Deposito_of_Fondazione Prada_, a setting designed to mirror the collection's exploration of rawness versus refinement. Metal scaffolding framed the space, while the runway was lined with a carpet originally designed byCatherine Martin, creating a juxtaposition of industrial minimalism and quiet opulence. This displacement of elements, echoed in the collection itself, is central to Prada's philosophy—where proportions shift, materials are reimagined, and the expected becomes unfamiliar.

Dresses—long associated with femininity—are dissected, fragmented, and reconstructed, losing their original function in favor of something more dynamic and fluid. Proportions are altered, challenging the rapport between fabric and the body. The tension between tightness and looseness is explored through scrunched sleeves, hiked-up skirts, and asymmetrically structured collars. The styling, intentionally unfinished, reinforces this idea: hair tucked into necklaces, collars askew, sleeves casually rumpled—gestures that suggest motion, process, imperfection as beauty.

Outerwear remained a powerful statement, with fur and leather coats dominating the runway. Collars were reimagined and distorted, their fur trims asymmetrically draped, giving the illusion of garments caught mid-movement. One standout look featured a dark brown fur coat, its proportions exaggerated, embodying_Prada's_signature ability to reshape classic luxury into something subversive yet entirely desirable.

Glamour in this collection is neither overt nor conventional—it exists in the details, in small yet striking embellishments that disrupt the rawness of the garments. Jewelry is integrated into knitwear, bows are deconstructed, and embellishments are placed with intentional asymmetry.

The collection also draws from multiple decades, fusing 70s bold shoulders, 60s new-age silhouettes, and 80s decadence, all filtered through the lens of contemporary luxury. Vibrant prints punctuate the restrained palette, adding an element of surprise amidst the more muted, architectural compositions. Sleepwear codes—typically associated with intimacy—are elevated and recontextualized, reinforcing the tension between private and public, soft and structured, effortless and intentional.

Femininity, as_Prada_presents it, is nonlinear—a balance of strength and vulnerability, softness and hardness, tradition and reinvention. This duality is observed throughout the collection, not only in its construction but in its color palette, where light and dark shades oscillate between looks, reinforcing the idea that femininity is never one thing, but rather a spectrum of possibilities.

The_FW25_collection does not simply offer clothes—it offers a perspective. It is an interrogation of glamour, a redefinition of beauty, and a confrontation with the expectations placed upon femininity._Prada's_genius lies in its ability to provoke while maintaining an unshakable sense of elegance. The message is clear: fashion is in constant transformation, and_Prada_is leading the way.
