Tod’s has always been a brand that celebrates its Italian roots. For Spring/Summer 2027, Creative Director Matteo Tamburini doubled down on this theme with a sartorial love letter to his homeland. Now in his fourth year at Tod’s, Tamburini has fully embraced the nuances of the maison’s historical and cultural inspiration to delightful effect. Spring/Summer 2027 exemplified his defining sensibilities.

The collection was launched via a garden party at Villa Necchi Campiglio, a stately mansion considered one of the best examples of luxurious Milanese living almost a hundred years ago. This week, it hosted a modern fashion aristocracy, whose easy grace and effortlessly elegant summer looks demonstrated that the Italian way of living truly remains timeless. Scores of fans lined the streets anticipating the arrival of stars like Orlando Bloom and Ji Sung. And the atmosphere inside, defined by live music and perfectly executed spritzes, swept guests up in the spirit of dolce vita in a perfectly manicured garden.

All that said, it was the clothes and shoes that stole the show! This season saw Tamburini propose the Red Dot sneaker, a versatile piece that combines the house’s impeccable craftsmanship and material choice with a _savoir faire_which suggests that luxury does not equal pretension. Also of note was the supple ultra-light loafer which beckoned like a siren call after a day of running around Milan in a far more rigid pair of shoes. And Tod’s even pulled back the curtain for a glimpse at the craftsmanship process; several artisans were on hand meticulously demonstrating different construction techniques.

The ready-to-wear side was centered around the Pashmy Project, which of course pays tribute to its namesake material pashmina. Sumptuous pants, shirts, and bombers in shades of pearl grey, periwinkle and caramel combined quiet luxury sensibilities with distinctive Italian flare. Quintessentially Tod’s yet demonstrating that the brand is evolving even as it remains timeless, the collection provided a major highlight of Milan Fashion Week and should be spotted frequently on the streets of Italy next summer.
