Sarah Burton presents the Alexander McQueen Spring/Summer 2022 menswear collection. The lookbook is lensed by Paolo Roversi who also photographed the ethereal women’s Fall/Winter 2021 collection.
Taking inspiration from the English poet, William Blake, Burton described the collection as “drawing on the concept of imagination as a pure form of escapism, it centres around lightness, air and water – on beauty emerging from darkness.”
Blake’s influence is pervasive across the collection. Graphics, embroidery, and even a t-shirt dress with a William Blake Dante print show the softer edges of the house’s punk roots. This is a collection that questions codes of tradition, masculinity, and everything in between. A pink blazer is constructed with zippers instead of darting, exploded ruffles become sleeveless details on a tailored jacket, and printed ruffled shirts channel new menswear identities.
