Jil Sander Spring/Summer 2027: The Quiet Power of Imperfection

1 October 2026

For his third runway at Jil Sander, Simone Bellotti continues to shape his interpretation of the house through a language of precision, restraint and quiet disruption. For Spring/Summer 2027, that balance becomes a study in contradiction: structure meets softness, dark tones meet delicate pastels, and sharply defined tailoring is gradually undone.

The starting point of the collection is the idea of the uniform, which is deeply embedded in the Jil Sander language: rigorous, precise and controlled, an expression of order and power. But rather than simply preserving this vocabulary, Bellotti introduces interferences that gradually destabilize it. The result is a collection built through construction, deconstruction and reconstruction.

Tailoring provides the discipline, with structured suits and sharply defined silhouettes in look twenty-seven, creating a sense of authority, while more deconstructed looks in thirty-three and thirty-five introduce a subtle sense of movement and imperfection. Rather than relying on ornamentation, Jil Sander allows proportion, cut and construction to speak for themselves.

What makes the collection compelling is precisely this tension between control and vulnerability. Jil Sander’s minimalism has never depended on excess, and Bellotti does not abandon that restraint. Instead, he questions how far it can be pushed before it begins to transform. A suit can remain powerful while becoming imperfect. A precise silhouette can gain character through distortion, as we can see in look forty-three with a balloon-shaped pale-yellow dress and elongated pointed shoes that reinforce the severity of the silhouette. Softness can exist without losing authority.

By the end of the collection, the movement settles again—but not quite where it began. The uniform remains, but its authority is no longer absolute. It has absorbed vulnerability, spontaneity and imperfection. For Spring/Summer 2027, Simone Bellotti does not reject the codes of Jil Sander. He bends them until something new emerges from within them. In a fashion landscape often drawn to excess, his approach offers another kind of statement: that sometimes, the most powerful form of elegance is knowing exactly where to let perfection break. Jil Sander finds something unexpectedly powerful: the freedom to be imperfect.
